About Us

Our Story

I’m Bindu. I’m half Swiss, half Indian, and I was raised in Canada and the US, surrounded by the colours and patterns of Indian fabrics. I always dreamed of starting a business with Indian textiles, but life kept me busy with my career and raising a family.

In 2019, my family and I moved to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where vibrant batiks and rich Indian influences reignited my passion for textiles. There I met Stéphanie, a Swiss designer who had spent much of her adult life in Asia. Over coffee, we talked about combining my love of Indian textiles with her design background.

In 2024, after another international move took me to Vienna, Austria, I knew it was finally time to launch my business. I shared my idea and design vision with Stéphanie, and she offered to sketch a few designs. Those sketches, which included our much-loved “Happy Elephant” design, became our first collection.

Et voilà!  That year, I launched Bindia K. In 2026, I renamed the brand Lorikeet to reflect the colourful spirit of our collections. On a personal note, it’s also a nod to the Australian side of my family.

About Lorikeet

Lorikeet brings together traditional Indian craft and contemporary design for a look that’s bold, casual and elegant. Our original patterns, many of them Indian-inspired, are drawn with striking motifs and focused palettes of one or two hues, made to add a pop of colour to Swiss and European homes.

Each piece is hand block printed in Jaipur. Artisans first carve our designs into wooden blocks. Skilled printers then ink the blocks and press them by hand onto naturally textured cotton, one impression at a time. Small variations in colour and alignment are the mark of the human touch and make each piece one of a kind.

We hope you enjoy our designs as much as we love creating them.
